An introduction: My first post on this new blog

This section of our website will feature a diverse range of topics, including fascinating stories discovered while exploring the distant branches of our family trees. We will also explore historical insights about the region where we live. Additionally, the blog will highlight intriguing technical details related to the development of this website and share other content we find particularly interesting. This blog section will also offer deeper explanation of significant photos or artwork featured elsewhere on the site.

Our family trees are hosted on the Ancestry website where I have been researching family history for over 20 years. My primary focus are my Ward and Willmott ancestral lines, although I explore beyond these as well. I enjoy exploring the more remote branches of the tree, uncovering details about people’s lives, especially in 18th & 19th-century Britain and sometimes even earlier. Additionally, I have a keen interest in the people who lived in my village in west Norfolk and in the surrounding areas of Norfolk in earlier times and exploring the rich social history of days gone by.
